Code Red: In urban heat islands, climate crisis hits harder
On July 19, , more than , computers connected to the Internet were infected with the CodeRed CRv2 worm in less than 14 hours. Despite the global damage caused by this attack, there have been few serious attempts to characterize the spread of the worm, partly due to the challenge of collecting global information about worms. Using a technique that enables global detection of worm spread, we collected and analyzed data over a period of 45 days beginning July 2nd, to determine the characteristics of the spread of Code-Red throughout the Internet. In this paper, we describe the methodology we use to trace the spread of Code-Red, and then describe the results of our trace analyses. Even without being optimized for spread of infection, Code-Red infection rates peaked at over 2, hosts per minute.
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is learning of the pressures faced by conscientious led Care Providers striving to offer a caring and safe environment to both service users and staff. Safety monitoring is proving to be a invaluable care assist tool - bringing a more open and transparent culture into care homes as well as saving valuable resources within the care home sector and the NHS. It's told to us loved ones particularly with dementia are not sufficiently hydrated because staff are too busy to ensure residents are having the correct intake of fluids.
Heat radiates from the asphalt and concrete that cover the streets, the sidewalks, the alleys, even the tiny yards behind the homes in the East Baltimore neighborhood of McElderry Park. Trees are scarce. So as a dangerous day heat wave tormented the city in July, the hottest month ever recorded on the planet, fewer and fewer residents were going outside. Oh Lord, this is too much.
