Humans have been involved in the practice of reflection for millennia; as far back as BC, Confucius wrote about the power of reflective practice for enhancing the human condition DunnGalvin et al. However, in modern times, one of the most influential proponents of reflective practice has been David Kolb Dennison, Like Piaget , Kolb considered learning to be experiential and largely self-driven. Or, in his words. Moreover, Kolb argued that it is our ability to actively reflect on our experiences which facilitates our learning and development. According to Kolb , the four stages are interrelated via a clockwise pattern, with each stage feeding into the next.
An early and enduring modernist novel, it received mixed reviews upon publication. Humanities are academic disciplines that study aspects of human society and culture. In the Renaissance , the term contrasted with divinity and referred to what is now called classics , the main area of secular study in universities at the time. Today, the humanities are more frequently defined as any fields of study outside of professional training, mathematics, and the natural and social sciences. The humanities use methods that are primarily critical , or speculative , and have a significant historical element  —as distinguished from the mainly empirical approaches of the natural sciences ,  yet, unlike the sciences, it has no central discipline. Scholars in the humanities are "humanity scholars" or humanists.
