Adolescence occurs between the ages of thirteen and nineteen Santrock, And new studies have shown that our brains continue developing until at least age twenty. Researchers continue to attempt to explain this spike of risky behavior during adolescence. This paper will be an examination of the factors that contribute to and effect the high level of risk taking that is prevalent among adolescents. It will focus on the neurological aspect of risk taking and how the brain factors in to the decisions we make as an adolescent.
I learned from the theme study that if you take risks - and if you have the right personal qualities - you can change your world personally, and influence others positively. The four films I watched for this report were Les Intouchables,Life of a King,12 years a slave and they all showed me the consequences of risk taking which were either loss or great rewards. Almost every individual finds it easier and more convenient to take steps that are safe and secure them for the present and for the future. Anyone who has spent even a year in the practical world would agree that this is not how life can be lived. The entire essence of life demands people to challenge themselves and push themselves off the edge just to see if they can fly — that is the true meaning of life.
