Rumens poem meanwhile reflects the stability of her life and her history while allowing to show that she is in stanza one discussing leaving her homeland as a child and in stanza three reflecting on the fact that there is no way back to this place. The poems are dissimilar in this respect as Agard is not reflecting on something or somewhere that he left but instead discussing the historic leaving out of a large chunk of history that was never taught to him.
