She goes to John Hopkins Hospital for treatment. She has cervical cancer. The hospital takes advantage of the situation and of her colour.

The family discovered it more than two decades later that part of Henrietta was still live and has been used as a medical research. Henrietta cells were all over the world and helping in many science discover such as the polio vaccine.

Society assumed that if you were different then the average white male, you were wrong and worthless.
